RYA Training CentreJunior Sailing takes place every Monday and Tuesday during the spring and summer months. We teach Junior Stage 1, 2, 3, 4, Start Racing and Intermediate Racing. It is run by highly qualified volunteer RYA Sailing Instructors and assistants with help from club members and parents. All these people give up their free time to pass on their knowledge and experience to the young people in Neyland Yacht Club and parents are encouraged to help with rigging, launching, recovery and supervision. We are a recognised training centre for the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and have been teaching sailing for many years. All the instructors are experienced sailors, qualified powerboat drivers and competent in first aid.  The club is endorsed to teach other aspects of the RYA syllabus such as Day Sailing, Sailing with Spinnakers, Seamanship and others.

NYC currently holds the status of Volvo Champion Club (VCC). This means the club makes a commitment to deliver safe, effective racing and race training in the RYA recognised classes. Additionally, clubs which are VCC's agree to support (via well organised coaching as well as advice, expertise and encouragement) the on going development of young sailors within their club and help to facilitate their progression into regional competition and subsequently into RYA squad programmes.

Neyland Yacht Club is also a registered RYA OnBoard Club which is a programme that helps to introduce sailing and windsurfing as a sport for you, what ever your needs and ability.

The club currently owns:

  • Six Toppers

  • Three Laser Picos

  • Five Optomists

  • Two 420s

  • One Laser Standard

  • Three RIB Safety Boats

  • One Jeanneau Dory

The money for these boats has been from lottery funding, major donations from club members and fund raising activities over a number of years.
